Q: What kind of gasoline should my 2001 Honda CR-V use? 87 or 89?
Hello, I just bought the 2001 Honda CR-V for my first used car on last week, and I don't know what kind of gasoline should my car use. Someone tell me I should use 89, but I don't know who is correct? Can someone tell me what gasoline I should use? If I use the wrong gasoline, will that affect my car's engine?
A: Check the owners manual for fuel requirements. Sometimes it isn't listed because the manuals are generic and the engine is not the engine found in the base model for that year. It's usually safer to use the higher octane fuel until you know for sure what your car runs on. Higher octane fuel can be compressed more before combustion occurs and is usually used in higher performance engines. The higher the compression ratio of your engine, the higher octane fuel you need. I would also take the car in and have someone check it over seeing as you just bought it.
Q: Which Car should I buy Toyota RAV or Honda CR-V?
RAV 4 Cyl 2WD or Honda CR-V 4 Cyl 2WD.
Which car has more mileage, perharps the owners would know better. I have not experienced either one, your assistance would help in deciding which one to buy. Thanks A Lot.
A: I think the gas mileage would be about the same (somewhere between 21-25). The new Rav4 just has a 3rd row while the CRV doesnt and there is more room for luggage and cargo.
Q: How can I remove a paint scratch from my black honda cr-v?
I want to remove it without messing up the car's original paint.
A: use a scratch remover and then follow it up with a wax. The scratch remover will strip away a small amount of paint and cover up the scratch. FOLLOW the directions on the bottle exactly. If it is a real bad scratch, then get some touch up paint. Good Luck
Q: How much gas would a Honda Cr-v use (14 miles to the gallon) for a 730 mile trip?
Im not sure how big the tank is but I want to say around 12-14 gallons. It gets roughly 14 miles to the gallon. Can you tell me how many gallons of gas I will be using and roughly how much it might cost over 730 miles? Thanks!
A: 730 miles at 14 mpg = 52.2 gallons (approximately)
52.2 gallons at $3.25 per gallon = $169.65
Q: What kind of gasoline should I use for my 2003 Honda CR-V?
Does it matter what type of gasoline I use for my car? I heard that I should use premium but I'm not sure if it is neccessary. Could I use regular? I would perfer to use regular because it's cheaper but if premium is better for my car, I'll be willing to use it too.
A: A 2003 Honda CR-V will run fine on regular gas. That is the manufacturer recommendation on the CR-V. This is because its not a high performance engine, so higher octane wont do anything for it. So save some money and just keep filling regular. If however you feel like the car is acting weird on regular gasoline (pings, knocks, etc) try putting in the mid-grade. I have 4 Honda's and 3 of them only need regular gasoline, but i run mid-grade because it seems to make the cars run a little better and i notice almost zero knocks and pings. Your fine running on regular (87 octane) in a CR-V!
Q: Where is the pivot bolt and lock nut of the idler pulley for the air conditioner belt on a 2001 honda CR-V?
Please help...we are almost done changing the torn belts on our car. Since we can't afford to have them done we are doing it ourselves-fun. Can you please help us with how to release the tension on the air conditioner belt.
Thank you
Oh and a competely random question... what is Honda part pp-GF30 for?
A: If it doesn't use a serpentine belt then it will look something like this http://i713.photobucket.com/albums/ww136/hondahien/IMG00048-20090512-0900.jpg
Loosen the nut in front of the pulley (can't see in the picture). Next, loosen the long bolt. From the picture, looks like a 12mm deep socket. This long bolt when tightened will bring the pulley up increasing the tension on the belt.
There are 4 bolts holding the AC compressor. There is no need to touch those.
Q: How is the maintenance light on the Honda CR-V reset?
I do not believe that there is anything wrong with the car, but I need to reset the maingtenance light, and do not know how
A: with the key off, hold down the rod near your speedometer, while holding it down turn the key on to the run position and dont start the vehicle, that will reset it, if you have an owners manual you will see
Q: Will the Honda CR-V or the Toyota RAV-4 ever become a hybrid?
I find it a bit surprising that Honda and Toyota hasn't made them a hybrid yet. They are a great solution for mid-sized SUVs and I think making them Hybrids would be even better.
A: Go for the Ford Escape Hybrid. The Escape Hybrid uses nearly the same drive system as the Toyota Prius-- The Power Split Device system.
Ford and Toyota have a cross-licensing agreement on the PSD hybrid drive system.
The Escape Hybrid is what a Rav-4 hybrid would be.
And the Escape Hybrid right now qualifies for a $3000 Federal Tax Credit-- Making it the same cost as a similarly-equipped regular Escape.
Q: What type of lowbeam headlight bulb does a 1998 Honda CR-V take?
Is it something common like a 9006/9005 bulb? Thanks!
A: Check your local autoparts website. I did for my area and found out it takes a 9003.
