Q: 2010 Honda Element good choice for 1st car?
I really like the car. It's not too big, not to small and there is alot of room inside. I live in the city. What are the pros/cons about the Honda Element and would you recommend it for a first car choice for a 16 year old?

A: Nobody will not like the 2010 Honda Element. If you can afford it, why not. Its a perfect first car. Hope this help!

Q: I cant pick between the 2010 Honda Element or the 2010 Scion Xb?
I am a 22 year old girl and im buying either the element or the xb but im having a seriously hard time picking out which one i like better!!! so help!

A: I used to own a 2003 Element EX AWD. Sold it in 2008 and bought a Gen 2 Scion xB. Both were five-speed stick shifts. Both offer a lot of bang for the buck and are well rated. I like the Scion better. The Element isn't a bad ride. It's big on the inside and small on the outside, has a good balance of power and economy, is fun to drive, comes nicely equipped and doesn't look like everything else on the road. On the downside, I grew tired of the clamshell doors over time, the Element only seats four, the plastic fenders were a pain to keep looking nice and I had some unHondalike problems with it, even though it was respectfully driven and meticulously maintained. Keep in mind, however, that 2003 was the first year for the Element. Later models have gotten away from the plastic fenders and the bugs should be worked out by now. The xB has many of the features that attracted me to the Element, plus seating for five, conventional doors, is a little quieter and gets slightly better gas mileage. The xB has the Camry four cylinder engine which is essentially bulletproof. The Element revs higher (3000 rpm at 60 mph vs. 3000 rpm at 70 mph for the xB). Performance, comfort and economy are similar, but the xB was about $1500 cheaper out the door than the Element was five years earlier. Scion's "no haggle" pricing makes buying a breeze, but watch out for dealers who tack on paint sealant, upholstery protectant and other packs that just inflate the xB's very reasonable price (ditto for the Element). The xB doesn't have AWD, but does come with traction control, stability control, ABS and airbags all around. Not as good as AWD, but I've had no problems driving the xB in the snow. The Element design is basically unchanged since 2003 and it's starting to look old. The xB is sleek and contemporary by comparison even though, like the Element, it's a box. I also like the lower profile of the xB. It's less likely to get blown around on windy days, is easier for loading kayaks and I can wash the roof without a step ladder. Speaking of washing, don't let anybody tell you that you can hose out the Element. If you're into hiking, biking and rugged outdoorsy stuff, the Element would probably be a better choice, but keep in mind it's not a hard-core off road vehicle. If you want a really cool ride with lots of aftermarket goodies, go for the xB. Bottom Line: Liked the Element, love the xB.

Q: how much should i expect to pay for 2010 honda element ex 2wd auto transmission?

A: The only way to know if your not a dealer is to price shop two Honda dealers against each other on the exact same vehicle.

Q: Would you buy a Honda Element 2007- or 2010 model?
We went to the Honda dealership and there was a silver Honda Element 2007 for 18K (used certified vehicle/trade in). We test drove the car and everything seemed fine to my boyfriend and me however... his Uncle is going to be the one Co-Signing it meaning he gets a say in it. Therefore he noticed that there was a hitch in the back of the car so after we got done test driving it he says, "the car didn't seem powerful because it seems to him that the previous owner had used the car to haul things." Everything seemed pretty normal to my boyfriend and me. The car was clean, couple of minor scratches in the front passenger seat by the glove compartment. A;so his Uncle says that its not a 4 wheel drive so during the winter time we'd struggle a lot. Now my question is... Do you guys really think its worth paying a couple more thousands for a new Honda Element 2010 (24k) or just sticking to the 2007 Element. Do you think the Uncle is maybe just to over-concerned and over-analyzing everything? Please help or answer! 2007 mileage is: 37,829

A: A couple of points from a former Element owner. This is not the kind of vehicle someone would buy for serious towing. This is a vehicle for an outdoor enthusiast. It's more likely that it was used to haul a jet ski, ATV or a motorcycle (or a pair of them), well within the Element's towing capability. Towing will not cause a vehicle to lose power. It's more likely that your uncle is used to driving something with more zip, so the Element seems slow by comparison. If you need AWD, the '07 Element won't fill that bill. Keep in mind that AWD only helps you go in snow. It does nothing to help you stop. Now on to some other points about the Element you may have missed. First of all, it only seats four. Secondly, if you have people getting out of the back seat regularly, eventually the clam shell doors will become really annoying. The Element's high profile makes it susceptible to being blown around on windy days as well as difficult to load stuff on a roof rack if you have a need for that. It's also a pain in the butt to wash the roof. If AWD is a must, go for the 2010, but also recognize that AWD will compromise your gas mileage slightly. AWD also means more mechanical components to service and replace when they fail. I switched from an Element to a second generation (2008-2010) Scion xB. It has all of the features I liked about the Element and none of the things I didn't like, plus it gets better mileage, seats five and is a couple of thousand dollars cheaper out the door. No AWD, but with traction control and stability control the xB handles quite well in the snow. Bottom Line: I liked the Element, but love the xB.

Q: Honda Element Lx 2010?
I was wondering how this car was?? I looked at reviews on it, and it seems like a pretty good car in my opinion. If you have this, how do you like it?? Also, I'm a teen. would this be a good car for a teenager?? Thanks!!

A: The Element is a great ride and should be just fine for a teenager. It's a little different from everything else on the road and although it has become more mainstream since introduced in 2003, some people still can't handle being different. That said, it takes a little getting used to. Some things you may not find in reviews...the high beltline (bottom of the windows) may make some ATMs and drive up windows a stretch, if you have passengers getting in and out of the back seat regularly the clamshell door dance gets to be annoying over time, the tall profile makes it difficult to wash the roof (and you get blown around on windy days), and I personally never liked the instrument cluster. For everything you could possibly want to know about the Element, check out the forum at http://www.elementownersclub.com This is a very active, informative (and free) website. If you don't need AWD, take a look at the second generation Scion xB. Big on the inside, small on the outside, lower profile than the E, comfortable, fun to drive, good balance of power and economy, great audio system, well equipped, cheaper and cooler looking than the Element, lots of customizing options and made in Japan so it has none of the current Toyota safety issues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkZ9B45PZMs

Q: Would you buy the extended warranty on a new Honda?
I'm buying a 2010 Honda Element today. The dealership I'm buying it from gives you a free lifetime powertrain warranty. There's also a 60,000 mile warranty. Of course they're trying to sell me a 120,000 mile warranty as well. They say Hondas are very reliable. So do I really need to get this warranty? What would you do?

A: If you plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time then yes and it will be cheaper to buy it now then later on and the price of the warranty will be more once you leave the dealers lot. Also if you do buy it tell the sales man that want a better price on the warranty and he may be able to drop it a little.

Q: Which one of these compact suv's is the best?
The 2010 Honda Element or Subaru Forester.

A: Tough call. Both are well made, well rated vehicles from highly regarded manufacturers. The Element is available with on-demand AWD (it kicks in when the wheels start to spin), has more interior space, is more dog friendly (if that matters) and doesn't look like everything else on the road. On the downside, it only seats four and the clam shell doors can be annoying over time. The Element's design is basically unchanged since its introduction in 2003. The 2010 model looks a lot like the 2003. That could be good, or it could be bad...depends on your personal point of view. The Forester seats five and is more conventional looking. Its "look" can be a big plus if you plan to rob banks. Your getaway car will be harder for witnesses to identify. It has full time AWD (even in reverse) which will improve handling, but decreases fuel mileage slightly. If you have people getting in and out of the back seat regularly, you'll appreciate the conventional doors. If you're the rugged outdoorsy type, the Element may be a better choice, but keep in mind that it's not a hard core off road vehicle. Otherwise, the Forester is probably the better all around everyday driver. Go to different dealers and test drive each one a couple of times until something clicks. If that doesn't help, just flip a coin. The choice is really that close.

Q: what car do you think is better!?
Hey I'm buying a new car and don't know whether i want a 2010 Honda Element or a 2010 Scion Xb!! If you could tell me what you think I would really appreciate it!
